Hi, I’m Bek Grove from Albury, the youngest member of the Campfires Against Cancer team at 19.  I haven’t seen much of the world, so I guess I’m pretty clueless to most of what's going on around me at the moment. Not having the farm style life as a child I guess horse riding was introduced to me by my mums brother, Uncle Butch …Thanks Butch!

In mentioning my Mum, she’s the best any kid could wish for.  My life has been filled with fun and laughter, and I like to keep busy.

If it wasn’t for Dad then some days my horse just wouldn’t get fed, sometimes there are just not enough hours in a day! Mum and Dad have given my sister, Mel, and brothers Jeremy and Jonathon the chance to see what the other half of the world, if you like, have to go through. We have been a foster family for 12 years now and in that time have become attached to many of the children who have been worse off than ourselves.

Over the past two and a half years we have cared for many children but two that mean the world to my family are Charlie and Kerrick. My motivation for this ride is my Great Uncle Sonny.  Cancer has been a battle for him over the past five years and life wouldn’t be the same with out him.

Spending this 10 months with the love of my life (Ian) by my side will make this adventure so much more enjoyable. Without him believing in me I don’t think I’d be the person I am now. My hobbies include playing sport and riding horses.  I have had a bad trot over the past few months with back problems but nothing will stop me from helping Ian, Dan and the rest of the team raise $500,000 toward cancer research.

Kind Regards
Bek
