NEW YEARS EVE

Akta-Vite Campfires Against Cancer to celebrate milestones at the official Year of the Outback
New Year’s Eve celebration

The Akta-Vite Campfires Against Cancer team will ride into Upper Horton, north of Tamworth, to join the official Year of the Outback New Year’s Eve celebrations and the Upper Horton rodeo.  The team, led by NSW’s Dan Phegan and Ian James marked significant milestones as they crossed the Queensland border on December 9th, completing six months of a 10 month trek across rural Australia and raising more than $185,000 of a targeted $500,000 for cancer research.

Mr Bruce Campbell, Chairman of the Year of the Outback will lead the official New Year’s celebrations after day 1 of the campdraft competition and rodeo.  Country Music star Martin Oakes will sing the National Anethem and entertain the crowds into the evening with Dan Phegan who was a finalist in the Jimna Mud, Bulls and Music Talent quest earlier this year.  Martin is looking forward to catching up with the team and his friends from the Northern Territory cattle stations he used to work with who will be riding in the Rodeo and celebrating with us this year.

The Upper Horton New Year’s Eve Campdraft and Rodeo is widely known to Australia’s best horsemen and women, attracting riders from across Australia.
