Many moths prior to the actual departure from Darwin, there is a lot of preparation work done. This Photo Album chronicals some of the events during the this preparation time

“Fund Raising Auction at Tooma”

The mountain weather looked ominous as Dan follows Col on the track to Tooma after briefly stopping at Bec’s home at Thologolong to pick up ‘Brumby’. It was about here on the way home that a wheel flew off Dan’s float, followed by the other tire blowing on the same side, almost flipping the float with Brumby in it.

Dan strikes a chord after the auction and played a range of songs – so that Bec could keep dancing !!

The Tooma Hotel in the heart of the Upper Murray was the venue for our first charity auction organised by Bear of the crew, and supported by 100’s of locals. This was only one side of the bar. Locals of the area said they could not remember the pub ever being so full. It was a very successful night, raising $6,000.

Bec busts a move and shows how the campfires team shakes a leg !!

A big thanks to Sharron & George Taylor from SKT Leather. Sharron plaited the 16 strand; 7-foot stockwhip for us made from the finest Kangaroo hide seen enclosed in the glass fronted wooden cabinet her father handcrafted for us. The package would retail for approximately $700 and we have been conducting a raffle for it ever since it was presented to us.

“Tooma, Another Successful Fund Raiser”

Lucas, Aimy-Rose, GiGi, Danny and Colin at Walwa after a swim in the Murray on the way home from our second fundraising night at Tooma. Another great night to Bears credit.

Quick snap of Bear with her new home for a year. This trailer has everything that opens and shuts and will be very handy for the months ahead.

“Trip North To Blaze A Trail”

Female vocalist sensation Tania Kernaghan. Tania will be catching up with the Campfires Team on the road for a bit of a show and will probably ride out of Darwin in the parade on June 30, 2002

The trek between Willow Tree and Mudgee can be a rough one - especially when you have been running short on time. Danny & John 'patch it up'!

“Local Fund Raising Always Successful”

Constable Kylie of Albury Police draws the raffle run by Colin of the Campfires crew. First prize was the choice of a handled Brumby foal or 10 slabs of beer……the foal was pretty safe.

“Australia Day Corowa Parade”

A very proud day. Colin, Danny and Ian participate in the Australia Day parade at Corowa NSW. The parade was attended by 22,000 proud Australians.
